What Does a Class Rep Do?

Being a Class Rep is a fun opportunity to gain new skills, meet new people & have a say in your academic experience here at Trinity.

TCDSU exists so that students can come together in a powerful, collective voice to fight for better learning conditions on campus. As Class Rep, you will have the opportunity to speak on behalf of your classmates to your lecturers as well as at SU Council, Faculty Assembly, and School Executive meetings. In past years Reps have also organised course hoodies or social events for their class.

Put simply, without Reps there is no Union. Our strength comes from cooperation — your class needs to trust that TCDSU will do all we can to help them in whatever way we can. This is only possible if they have a personal connection with the Union ... that's where you come in! You see your class every day. They know who you are and how to contact you if any issues arise. That empowers them to speak out if something needs changing.

Some classes have one Rep, while bigger classes might have two, three or even four!

If you're elected, you will get a free Class Rep hoodie. You will also be invited to a free Class Rep Training (CRT) weekend away on October 22nd - 23rd 2022. CRT is a Union crash course! There will be training on leadership skills, organising events, accessibility, and a million other things. It's also a great chance to meet other Class Reps and make new friends. If you can't make that weekend away, ná bí buartha! We will be running an online training session that covers all the same material.
